Amazing Glitter Lips Tutorial from Cutesaurus's Blog

Yesterday I stumbled upon an amazing Glitter Lips Tutorial from Cutesaurus's Blog. With her permission, of course, she is allowing me to re-post it. Her blog is http://cutesaurus.wordpress.com and you should def check her out!

Glitter Lips Tutorial-By Cutesaurus

A couple of days ago while messing around with possible makeup, I came up with this:

I think it came out really well, so I decided to post a tutorial for it. I think this would work with any color of lipstick and any color of glitter, so it’s perfect for modifying to your color preferences. I like the black base because it really sets off the color and sparkle, but I also think a glittery red or hot pink lip would look

*AMAZING*

This time I decided to try a different color over the black base, and chose pink. My only pink glitters are MAC’s Very Pink Reflects and Neon 60s. But Neon 60s came out rather surprising…

GLITTER LIPS TUTORIAL
What I used:

All MAC stuff: 316 lip brush, greasepaint stick, Feline kohl power liner, She-Zam dazzleglass, clear lip glass, Reflects Very Pink and Neon 60s glitters.

Important: DO NOT rub your lips together at any time during this process.

This requires very pigmented and thick products that will most likely get on your teeth and clump pretty badly. It will look terrible. SO DON’T DO IT. Resist the urge. Please be aware that this look is not practical at all and really should not be worn places where eating/drinking are necessary! The price of having sparkly wonder lips ;)

1. Start with clean, bare lips. (My lips are kind of dry, so I used lip balm and blotted it off to prime them without adding a layer that would affect color application).
2. Use the greasepaint stick to line and fill your lips until the entire surface is matte and black. You should be able to get fairly good definition of shape using this. If you want, you can line beforehand with Feline e/k or any black pencil liner (chola status? haha) or afterwards to perfect the shape (my preferred method).

I don’t think this looks that great, because the paint stick is kind of drying. For a nice matte black lip though, you could stop at this stage and just add a non-shiny balm over top.

3. Add your preferred gloss, using the lip brush to gently paint the gloss on (I try to avoid getting black color into the lip gloss tube!). I like the super-sparkly silver MAC She-Zam dazzleglass:
4. Get your preferred glitter. Still using the lip brush, pat the glitter gently in a small area at a time to get a nice covering. DO NOT smear. I like to just do it in the center of both lips (not all the way to the edge) so the black still shows. This is with Very Pink:
I don’t think it looks that great at this stage either, because the glitter is kinda crusted onto the gloss I guess you could say. But in the next step, it really comes together.

5. Using the clear lip glass and the lip brush, gently paint the gloss thickly over your lips. Again, do not rub your lips together. Done properly, this creates a very slick, sparkly look.
Now, that looks pretty neat.. the MAC Reflects glitters are very finely milled, so it looks kind of like a dazzleglass, just more extreme. But I really wanted sparkle, so I decided to add the other glitter, Neon 60s. (again adding gloss over the top)
So there you have it! Hope this tutorial was helpful. I would love to see pics of different color combinations of glitter and color
:)

These lips are stunning and I can't wait to try this out for myself! Big thanks to Cutesaurus again and def check out her blog and follow her! Until next time...

MAC Surf Baby Collection

I am super excited about the new MAC Surf Baby Collection coming out May 26th, 2011. MAC summer collections tend to be my favorite from them as the To the Beach collection from last summer has turned into my everyday staple make-up items. I was able to snag some promo pictures below.

Usually I am not as excited for eye shadows but these eye shadows look like they have almost an ombre effect. The Saffron (coral) one reminds me of Ripe Peach but in a eyeshadow form. Sun Blonde (yellow with gold pearl) seems to have that ombre effect as well. I will def. be picking up those two.
There is however only 1 lipstick that really seems like a must buy for me and it is the Naturally (eccentric Nude). I feel like the other colors being released are too similar to colors I already have.

From Left to Right: Naturally (eccentric Nude), Mocha, Hibiscus (Bright coral), & Bust Out! (soft violet)

I guess the most coveted piece this year is going to the be the MAC Surf Baby My Paradise Blush (coral orange with champagne gold flower). It is probably going to sell out in less then an hour because it is soo beautiful. I will def. be picking this one up as I really love coral blushes as I am sure many of you do as well!

The MAC Surf Baby Lip glosses are next up. They seem to be back to the normal size after the JUMBO Wonder Woman lip glosses. They are re-promoting Strange Potion in this collection so if you missed out on grabbing it in the Venomous Villains collection, now is your chance to grab one. I think Good Lovin’ (peach pink) looks the prettiest one to me. Thoughts?

From Left to Right: Girl on Board (sheer gold), Good Lovin’ (peach pink), Krazy Kahuna (medium brown), and Strange Potion (pink coral).

Next up are the MAC Surf Baby Crushed Metallic Pigment Stacks and MAC Surf Baby Nail Lacquer. Nothing really catches my eye here so I think I am going to pass on these.
The last item I have pictures for are the MAC Surf Baby Eye Liners. I think I am going to pass on these as well.
From Left to Right: Blue Noon (teal) and Gilded White (shimmering off-white)
They are also going to be releasing the following products in this collection however I don't have the pictures for them yet.
  • MAC Surf Baby Bronzing Powder-Solar Riche
  • MAC Surf Baby Studio Careblend Pressed Powder-Gold-Go-Lightly
  • MAC Surf Baby Tan Tint-Billionaire Bronze (soft gold) and Guilty Bronze (copper bronze)
They are also coming out with Blush Sticks and Sun tints. I saw a photo of the Blush Sticks and it looks very similar to the NARS Orgasm Multiple. I am also pretty excited to see what the Careblend Pressed Powders are, as powders from MAC are my sweet spot.

Any thoughts on the collection? Are you excited? Do you think last year's summer collection was better or do you think this year's will be? Until next time...

MAC Wonder Woman NYC Preview Party & Swatches

This past Tuesday I had the pleasure of going to my first MAC Preview Party in NYC! There were HOT male model waiters passing out Wonder Woman red velvet cupcakes and for the over 21 set, there were some free cocktails! The purpose of this party is to be the first to view the new Wonder Woman collection and get your make-up done by the MAC artists and swatch and purchase the collection. Lucky for me, I have a great MAC artist who puts new collections aside for me so they don't sell out before I get a chance to purchase them. Hopefully I will be invited again and able to go to more of these parties in the future. Below are some pictures for you guys. I hope you enjoy them:)

Once inside you could see all the wonderful display decorations they had around the store.
I also have an awesome MAC artist who gave me a sneak peak into their stock closet which is amazing! Also, check out her Wonder Woman staff shirt. I totally want one!
How awesome is the shirt! Next, I was able to get some pictures of the products on display. It is a pretty small MAC store and very crowded so I did the best I could. Sorry if it is on an angle.
I was able to do a quick swatch of the Lip glosses (which are JUMBO size) and the Lipsticks below.
The first picture is with flash and the second one is with no flash. The colors from left to right are Athena's Kiss, Wonder Woman, Secret Identity, Emancipation, (Lip glosses) Marquise 'd, Heroine, Spitfire, Russian Red (missing) (Lipsticks)

When walking into the store they give you a poster and a sheet to check off all the products that you want to get. Below are the pictures. I don't collect MAC postcards but I think I am going to save these.
Next up is what I actually ended up getting. The boxes were actually really cool. I only got (1) Lip gloss, (1) MSF and (1) Blush.
As you can see I got Wonder Woman Lip gloss, Golden Larait MSF and Mighty Aphrodite duo blush.

Let's start with Wonder Woman Lip gloss. This is a beautiful red lip gloss. I have been on a red lip kick lately and thought this would make a great addition. It seems to have iridescent sparkles in it which I really like. It is also JUMBO size. I think this lip gloss will literally last me forever. Pics and swatch below.
Next, I got the Mighty Aphrodite blush. I really like how there are two different colors in the pan. I haven't seen MAC be that creative in a while. Again, these blushes are bigger then the standard MAC blushes.
I think these colors will be very pretty mixed together or used separately as well.
And last but not least, the biggest MSF I have EVER seen-Golden Lariat.
As you can see beautiful shades. From a highlighter to a bronzer. This picture doesn't even do this MSF justice. I think if there is one thing to get from this collection it would be this. Plus it will last forever as it is HUGE.

What are your current wants from this collection? Do you like the packaging or hate it? Would love to hear you comments. Until next time:)

MAC Wonder Woman Collection

MAC is launching a Wonder Woman cosmetics collection — and judging by this preview, it is going to reach the pinnacle of comic-nerd cool. The tough-as-nails Amazon has inspired a set of bold makeup colors for Diana Prince wannabes, along with Wonder Woman's signature red-and-blue packaging. Expect lip gloss, nail polish, shimmering pigments, and more from this collaboration. (The only thing missing? An invisible jet.) Wonder Woman is one of our favorite fictional feminist icons, so we're looking forward to lassoing these goodies when they hit stores in March. See the whole collection here. (Images and Text borrowed from Bella Sugar)
I am not thrilled with the packaging as it looks a little bit "preschool-ish" but I think there are some really cool LE products coming out. I am most excited for the Powder Blush duo, mainly in Mighty Aphrodite. I think both of the MSF's look really pretty. And for some reason, I am really loving the make up bags. None of the lipsticks or the lip glosses really do it for me this time. Neither are the eyeshadow quads. I am shocked because these are usually my favorites in any MAC LE collection.

What are your thoughts on this collections? What are your must haves?
